Business Plan Resources

Greetings fellow FIRST Team!

We know many teams struggle with understanding everything involved in creating a business plan and how that relates to the Entrepreneurship Award sponsored by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. This award celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit by recognizing a team that has developed a comprehensive business plan to define, manage, and achieve the team’s ongoing objectives. The Flying Platypi have presented our unique approach to developing a business plan at 5 out of the last 6 FIRST championships with the hope of helping teams understand some of the basics involved in developing a business plan together; not for purposes of winning an award but to help make them better, well rounded sustainable team. In that same spirit, our 2018 Houston presentation video and presentation are both linked below. Also, our presentation on becoming a Non-Profit entity is also linked below. Over the years, we have helped over 15 FIRST teams and other FIRST-related organizations gain nonprofit status. We hope that this video will help answer any questions you may have on working toward gaining non-profit status. Our award-winning business plan strategy has been in development for many years, and we hope that your team will find these resources useful. Below is a list of all the events our business plan has been commended throughout our team’s history.
